Six F-16 fighter jets acquired by Argentina performed a historic flyover over Buenos Aires on the morning of December 6, 2025, before heading to the official presentation event in Río Cuarto. The aircraft flew over iconic landmarks such as the Obelisk and the Casa Rosada. This event marks the most significant technological leap for the Argentine Air Force in over four decades and the restoration of full supersonic capability, lost since the early 1990s. The government views this as a strategic milestone that strengthens national defense, cooperation with Western allies, and airspace surveillance. The formation was led by an experienced Danish pilot, callsign “Teo,” who will assist Argentine pilots in the familiarization and certification process. Four of the six aircraft are two-seaters for advanced training, while two are single-seaters configured for interception and air defense. This is the first batch of a total of 24 aircraft to be supplied by Denmark on an accelerated schedule. However, achieving full operational capability will take months due to logistical adjustments, spare parts supply, and specialized training for both pilots and technicians.
“His presence was interpreted within the Argentine Air Force as a gesture of strategic cooperation and an operational guarantee during this first transition phase, as local pilots complete the familiarization and certification process on the F-16 platform.”
